Leicester City Star Wesley Fofana Posts Statement After Being Spotted Wearing Arsenal Shirt

Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana has taken to Twitter to issue a statement after being pictured with an Arsenal shirt while on holiday in Dubai.

The 20-year-old Frenchman got Gunners fans very excited when he was pictured wearing their home strip as he posed with a friend who held up a Leicester shirt complete with his name and number.

Naturally there was a social media overdrive, especially given Fofana is close friends with Arsenal’s William Saliba.

The reaction online prompted Fofana to explain just why he was sporting Arsenal colours and he claims the matter was blown well out of proportion.

Reaffirming his desire to Leicester, Fofana wrote on Twitter: “OK mates. I have been tricked by some former friends wearing an Arsenal jersey.

“I played a football game (as coach I cannot run) with some friends and at the end we exchanged jerseys.

“I have been photographed in, what I thought, was my private sphere. I had obviously no thinking that what was a friendly game and joke will end up in social networks.

“I feel sorry for our fans and angry against the guys that have seized the opportunity to make this bad buzz.

“Sorry for all Arsenal friends, I have strictly no problem with the red but only the blue is in my heart.”

Currently absent from the European Under 21 Championships, the Frenchman revealed his “coaching debut” did not go well as he added: “I’m not a good coach we lost 20 to 5.”

Fofana moved to Leicester from Saint-Etienne in a £30 million deal last summer and made a huge impression in his first season in English football.

The centre-back played 38 times in all competitions and was a vital cog in the Foxes’ FA Cup final win over Chelsea at Wembley.
