David De Gea Has A Subtle Dig At Manchester United Following Sergio Romero’s Release
David De Gea has aimed a subtle dig at Manchester United after the club released Sergio Romero.
The experienced Argentine shot-stopper was among eight players let go by United on Friday, along with fellow first-team goalkeeper Joel Pereira.
Romero’s departure from United had been inevitable, with the 34-year-old having not played for the Red Devils in the whole of the 2020/21 campaign after Dean Henderson returned from his loan spell at Sheffield United and tussled it out with De Gea for the No.1 shirt.
De Gea, who worked closely with Romero ever since he joined in 2015, wished him well in his next move but the sentence, “You deserve to be treated well in your new challenge” would appear to be referencing the way in which he was frozen out at Old Trafford.
